Edwardian Lady Part 3: New Topology
After completing the first phase of sculpting, I imported the high-resolution mesh into Blender to create a new animation-friendly topology. I used a Blender add-on called Bsurfaces, which allows you to draw topology with the Annotate Tool on top of the target (in this case, the high-resolution sculpted mesh). I find this process, though lengthy, to be relaxing; it feels like putting together puzzle pieces.
With the new topology completed, I can import the mesh into ZBrush to make the final adjustments. This method of sculpting on a mesh with just enough density (as opposed to using subdivision levels) is one that I had seen at ZBrush Summit Presentations by 3D modelers at Disney. If you choose to use this method, you will want to use the Dynamic Subdiv button to see how your mesh will look subdivided.
